We understand the unique concerns women face when confronted by mental health and addiction challenges.
That’s why our interdisciplinary team of psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, and advanced practitioners is available around-the-clock to provide our patients with the therapeutic care that can allow them to understand their symptoms and achieve lasting recovery.
We build all our evidence-based programming using a trauma-informed approach, which allows us to remain sensitive to recent or past exposure to traumatic events.
Risk Factors & Benefits of Treatment
Women experience mental health symptoms in a unique way, and Park Royal Hospital believes in the importance of gender-specific treatment to give our female patients the best chance at positive outcomes.
Each year, 1 in 5 women in the United States face a mental health concern such as depression, anxiety, or posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Women are:
- More than twice as likely as men to be diagnosed with anxiety
- Almost twice as likely as men to suffer from depression
- More than twice as likely as men to develop PTSD
In their lifetime, on average:
- One in 3 women will experience an act of sexual violence
- One in 7 women will suffer from postpartum depression
- One in 2 women will experience a traumatic event
Through the gender-specific programming at Park Royal Hospital, women can benefit from focused care that addresses their unique needs. It’s particularly important for women who have a history of trauma to receive care in an environment that offers enhanced comfort and support.
It’s also vital for women to understand that they are not alone in the recovery process. Our gender-specific care provides patients with plenty of opportunities to hear from other women who are struggling, allowing them to build camaraderie and form bonds that can last far beyond their time in treatment.
