Why Choose Us

Why Seek Heroin Addiction Treatment at Park Royal Hospital

At Park Royal Hospital, we know how easy it is to get hooked on heroin, especially if you have been on a prescription opiate. There is also a strong stigma related to heroin use that causes others to look down on those who use it and you may have experienced some of these negative judgments, even believing them yourself. This may make you feel reluctant to seek help, believing this problem to be something you should be able to take care of on your own. The power of the word “should” has often kept people from seeking help for a long period of time. This is one word we can promise you will never hear used at Park Royal. We also understand that the fact that heroin is an illegal substance, many people resist seeking treatment at a heroin addiction rehab center to overcome your heroin abuse, fearing what will happen if anyone, even health care professionals, find out they are using this substance. We know how hard all these factors can be to tolerate when also trying to find the courage to seek treatment and rehab.

At Park Royal Hospital, we will never judge you or look down upon you for any reason. We strive to treat every individual who comes to us for help at our treatment and rehab center for heroin addiction with the utmost respect and do everything possible to protect your dignity.

Treatment Philosophy and Benefits

Heroin Addiction Treatment Philosophy and Benefits

At Park Royal Hospital, we believe in continuity of care whether you need acute detox services, inpatient stabilization or are ready to pursue an outpatient option though still need the structure provided by an Intensive Outpatient Program. It is not our intention to replicate services that already exist in our community, but to offer unique treatment and rehab services for heroin addiction at our treatment center that complement what already exists in our community.

We hold firmly to certain philosophical principles when providing services and helping those who are struggling with a psychiatric or substance abuse problem. We will always interact with you in a manner that underscores our commitment to integrity and honesty. We will work with you to create the treatment and rehab plan you need to provide you with the tools to create the life you want. We do not believe in cookie cutter approaches and will never presume we know you better than you do. We are also strongly committed to supplying services at our treatment and rehab center for heroin addiction to help you fight your way through what we know are incredibly difficult problems in the most compassionate manner possible. You will notice upon arriving at our rehab center that our staff is unique in the way they interact with each other. The services we offer consist of the most up-to-date techniques and information for treating psychiatric and substance abuse problems.

Types of Treatment

Types of Treatment and Rehab Used at Our Fort Myer’s Center

While our heroin detox and inpatient treatment and rehab programs are intended for the purposes of acute stabilization and short term treatment, we ensure you are provided with services that go beyond this limited goal. We know that many people take years before they feel able to seek care and once you have made that difficult decision we want to make sure we help you get started on the road to recovery as soon as you arrive. We provide additional services for you at our heroin addiction treatment and rehab center to take advantage of even as you work through the detox and inpatient stabilization programs.  Some of these include:

  • Detox – We are Suboxone Certified and offer medically monitored detox services to provide the most humane detox options for those who may need these services while at our treatment and rehab center for heroin addiction.
  • Group Therapy – Group therapy has been shown to be an extremely effective format for treating psychiatric and substance abuse problems. That is why this is the predominant method we use to deliver treatment and rehab services. We have psycho-education groups that provide information and teach skills you can use to begin acting on your recovery process. We also offer process groups to allow you to begin exploring some of the issues related to your problem.
  • Individual Work – While we don’t provide regular individual therapy at the same time, we know that there are times you may need to discuss a particularly difficult issue that you are struggling with one on one. Our staff members at our rehab center will do everything possible to make sure someone is available to speak with when such times occur
  • Family Visitation – We believe in the importance of family participation and support as you take the first difficult steps towards rehab. We encourage families to visit on weekends and our staff is available to interact with family members to address any concerns or answer any questions you may have.
  • Discharge Planning – We know how anxiety provoking it is to have made the decision to seek treatment and within a relatively short period of time already have to face transitioning to another program. We make sure to work with you when working on discharge planning and treatment recommendations for your next stage of recovery after you leave our treatment and rehab center for heroin addiction.

Continuing Care

Continuing Care – What Comes Next?

Once you have any acute issues under control we will discuss options for your next steps toward recovery after you leave our treatment and rehab center for heroin addiction. While you are in our inpatient program we work to provide you with a firm basis to build upon. We want to help you make the strongest beginning possible so you feel self-confident in the potential to lead the life of which you dream. We are aware there is frequently a great deal of anxiety experienced when discharge approaches and will begin discussing heroin addiction treatment and rehab options with you as soon after admission as is feasible. We are committed to offering a continuity of care and currently have three Intensive Outpatient Programs available for you to consider when you leave our inpatient treatment and rehab program at our center. These are intended to provide treatment that addresses the full continuum of problems with which you are struggling on an outpatient basis so you can make the most progress possible in your fight to regain control of your life. Our IOP programs begin with a thorough evaluation, using the results along with what we learned from our personal discussions with you to develop a treatment program individualized to meet your needs. You may be provided with individual or group therapy, psychiatric sessions for medication evaluations and monitoring and psycho-educational/skills building programs.

Our Senior Transition IOP program is designed to differ from the standard model for treating adults with mood and anxiety. Some of the main symptoms of these disorders are the very characteristics that impede individuals from being able to take complete advantage of standard therapy approaches. For example, many individuals with these disorders find that they are unable to focus, pay attention or concentrate. Thus, topic based approaches or instructional methods may not be the most effective options for individuals with these types of problems. Our treatment and rehab program provides as many opportunities as possible for each person to actively participate in structured exercises aimed at improving symptoms through constant engagement.

Our Senior IOP program is for those who, while not needing inpatient stabilization aren’t quite ready to transition to regular outpatient therapy. We provide a structured intensive focus to help individual’s cope with extreme mood states, learn skills such as socialization and assertiveness, and help the individual gain insight into how best to re-establish a support system and restore damaged relationships.

Our Adult IOP is for those who need more intensive services than what is provided in traditional outpatient programs but don’t require the structure of an inpatient program.  This platform is intended to serve a varied population experiencing a diverse set of problems. The program was designed to help individuals who are experiencing co-occurring disorders.
